More power is consumed everyday in the US than in any other country in the world. Earth is facing very serious issues like pollution and the loss of the ozone layer so it is critical that we do our best to save energy and, in turn, save our environment.

In this article, we will cover just a couple of things you can do to help save energy and also save some money every day. These things are so simple to do that anyone can do them; nevertheless, you will need to act for it to work and doing so you will help save the Earth.

One simple and easy thing you can do is to just turn off the lights when you exit a room. Many people are likely to leave leave lights on in a room when they think they are coming back, perhaps in ten or fifteen minutes. If you do this for just a few times a day, it could add up to at the least half an hour of squandered electrical power. While you squandering what could be thirty minutes of power each day may not appear like much, be aware that millions of other people are doing it as well. If you combine it all up, one person could be consuming no less than 182 hours of electrical power each year. Now try multiplying that by just 1 million people. That's 182 million hours of electricity squandered every year coming from a light that is left on in a single room.

Another wasteful habit that a lot of people do is switch the lights on when going inside a room. It's one thing many of us do without thinking. I tend to catch myself doing this as well. The trouble is that most of the time, there is adequate light coming into a room. And yet, we come into a fairly lit room and flip the light switch to on. Add to that, a lot us forget to flip the lights off because there is already a great deal of natural light coming in we don't realize the light is still on. You simply need to make the extra effort to not flip the lights on if there is enough natural light coming inside.

People who leave their TVs and radios on the whole day, when they are not even in the same room is one of the biggest issues. I holler at my mom every time I visit and she has her TV on but isn't even watching it. Just imagine the amount of electrical energy being squandered. Thus, if you're not in the room, switch off the television.

These are only a couple of things that anyone can do really easily but can have a huge impact on our attempts to conserve electrical energy and to save the Earth. If everyone makes just a tiny effort to do these very simple things, it can add up to make a great difference.
